Baseball is math.

How can baseball be used in the classroom? Teaching mathematics at times can be very challenging as some students do not believe they will need math, they will, some students are intimidated by math, and still even others just cannot get excited about math. The baseball fan, which is commonly the elementary school boy, will be amazed at how much math they actually do when calculating statistics for hitting or pitching. What can you do to get your child ready for this next year? Take your child to a ball game and let them keep score. During the school year we will be determining many of the baseball statistics and checking our work using the official statistics from Major League Baseball.  So when your child asks you this summer if they can stay up late to watch a baseball game tell them of course but only if they keep score.
